Why choose Redwood?
Have you ever considered what your wooden furniture is really made from? The answer will probably be no, and that might be partly down to a lack of information available. We are proud to handcraft all of our wooden bridges and garden furniture from quality Scandinavian Redwood.
Overall Outstanding Quality
Scandinavian Redwood is so popular due to it's superior natural qualities. The softwood is known for being durable and resistant to decay. Despite being a softwood, it is considered to be one of the toughest materials used in outdoor construction. It is also capable of withstanding large amounts of weight, meaning you'll feel at ease with the whole family seated safely. This is partly due to it being grown in almost idyllic growing conditions, meaning that it's perfect for creating garden furniture which both looks lovely and lasts.
Moisture Resistance
One of the greatest characteristics of Scandinavian Redwood is that it naturally repels moisture, making it perfect for garden furniture in the UK. It also won't rust unlike metal wooden furniture, and won't lose it's colour like some plastic garden furniture. All of our wooden bridges and furniture are made from pressure treated timber. The process in which the wood is pressure treated means that the end product is even more likely to resist moisture. This moisture resistance can then be further aided with proper care and maintenance.
Enchanting Finish
Scandinavian Redwood features a lovely natural colour grain which means that every piece is unique and holds a great level of character. The look of the wood is very distinctive and identifiable due to it's intricate knots and markings. The wood has a soft but strong quality to it, meaning it is comfortable for lounging on, but also has the durability you'd expect in quality furniture. The look and feel of the wood means that it's a great material to craft seating, tables, bridges and more from. Whilst it's not necessary, the Redwood's natural grain can also be suitable for a variety of wood treatments including painting, oiling and staining.
Eco-friendly Qualities
Our furniture is manufactured from quality Scandinavian redwood, which is sourced predominantly from FSC accredited mills. Scandinavian redwood typically comes from
protected Scandinavian forests, which are managed responsibly and often replanted after harvesting. If you're interested in finding out more about FSC and the environment, https://timberdevelopment.uk/ has a wealth of important information on the subject. The pressure treatment of the wood also adds to it's eco-friendly qualities, as by extending the furniture's lifespan, it's making it a more environmentally and economically friendly investment.
We craft wooden furniture that's designed to last, and we couldn't do that without the natural qualities of the Scandinavian redwood.
